THE FIRST SEMESTER WRAP UP!!

The first half of the 09-10 year has came to an end and wow was it ever a effffin phenomenal first semester...The Wall has hit capacity every Friday night, and it has solidified its position as the best bar to be at PERIOD!! Every show has sold out, and the infamous "Toonie Tuesdays" have been rockin all semester! Dry humping has increased five fold, random macking sessions are seen throughout the night, and the overall atmosphere has been AMAZING!! We have had nights where fire alarms have went off because of the body heat (Rock the Blue/Greem, Red/Black) from DJ KY rippin it week in week out, to DJ DAF, Steve Aoki burning ear hairs, Barack Obama's inaugural ball DJ, Tilt, blowing our minds with seamless mixes. Man its been crazy, but we still have one semester left for this year, and believe me IT WILL NOT DISSAPPOINT!! We have more shows, more crazy sh*t, and maybe even more macking and dry humping!! Keep supporting your Student Pub, THE WALL, and we'll only make it better for your years to come!! We have tons of surprises in store for you all!!

I'm gonna end off with some music...I was never a huge fan of this song until I realized how amazing the crowd reaction is to it!! I stand by the DJ booth sometimes and watch everyone belt out this track and it sends shivers down my spine at how much fun everyone has at The Wall. Its really a beautiful thing!! Then again maybe it's just those rye n gingers, or dirty larry's that get me all emotional!!!



And this song goes out too all of you who have came out week in week out...Some of us use The Wall as an escape from assignments, exams, and maybe just a crappy day...so too all of you, including staff this one is for you guys!!

D&S: Sex with Sue

This Wednesday sex guru Sue Johanson will be coming out to The Wall and educating us all on everything involving sex...now I have seen her shows a couple of times, and trust me she's impressive and extremely informative...So even if you think you're the campus sexpert, come out and this mother/grandmother/nurse will guarantee to teach you a thing or two!!

FIRE BURNIN ON THE DANCEFLOOR!!

WOW...Another epic weekend at The Wall. The ACCC's Caribana style theme night had everyone moving to the sounds of Soca, Dancehall, Reggae, and Hip-Hop. Along with the Caribbean theme, they brought a Lil' of the Caribbean heat to North Bay. This weekend was BEAUTIFUL!!! MBM'S Saturday night spirit pub set the roooooof on fiyaaaaahhhhhh! The Wall was packed, and guest DJ, Tilt, destroyed The Wall. It got soooo hot that the fire alarms went off at 1:50am...It sucks that this happened but it goes to show that THE WALL is OFFICIALLY THE HOTTEST SPOT IN TOWN!!!! To everyone stuck in line or who simply missed out...We'll see you at The Wall this Friday for Country Pub.

Halloween 09: The dry-hump fest

This years installment of Halloween at The Wall was quite the sight! The costumes were creative and quite outlandish(the winners of best costume dressed up as The Wall logo) But something other than the zombie makeup, vampires, dirty cops, and waldo's caught my attention. The amount of people dancing to the music a'la dry humping was CRAZY! At around 12:50 I took a look from upstairs in the "Electro Lounge", and all I could see were dirty cops grinding on convicts, and beer pong tables bumping and grinding with kissing boothes. Man was it ever a crazy Halloween, or should I say devils night. If you missed out...TOO BAD BECAUSE IT WAS AMAZING!!

THE TREWS!!!

Join us @The Wall this Wednesday for Dinner and a Show with none other than North Bay's favourite band "The Trews". There bringing along Lesley Pike who has just came off a summer tour with Jason Mraz. With Halloween one day away it keeps getting crazier into the month of November. The Trews, Caribana Night, The Blue/Green, Red/Black party on November 7th and THE STEREOS...Starting this Saturday im gonna hit you up with video, and pics of all these crazy nights so stay tuned for some juicy info, and the crazy stuff that'll make you say WHAT THE F*CK!!

Halloween @The Wall

Every year droves up people line-up from 8pm to come out dressed up, and to enjoy all the crazyiness that goes down at The Wall...Some dress up in REALLY scandalous get-ups, like dirty nurses, and playboy bunnies, and some get really creative. In past years I saw Steve Eerkel, a Jamaican Bobsled team, and even Beetlejuice!! Lets see who makes the cut this year!! I'm going to start including video and pics from each event on this blog so check it regularly to get the dirty deets about the night before.

The Wall proudly presents...

As the year slowly passes, the people at The Wall want to give you even more. Its not enough that we bring huge acts like Alexisonfire, Flogging Molly, Steve Aoki, Stereos, etc, but now we are going to give you a new vibe. Something that can only be experienced in a top notch club in Toronto. Starting on Oktoberfest we bring you two vibes, and two party atmospheres in the same, amazing venue. Downstairs will be our main room with resident DJ KY spinning all your Top-40 favorites. Upstairs will be the 'Electro Lounge'. M8 will be melting your ears and giving you a entirely new feel playing electro, trance, dance, and some house music in the mez. So make sure when you come out to Oktoberfest to take a walk upstairs and come check out some new music.

STEVE AOKI/I HEART NEON!!

WOW...What a phenomenal event this was. Everyone was ready for this one! People came prepared for this!! The Wall was a filled with a rainbow of colours. People wore pink tights, fluorescent colours illuminated the bar. DJ KY, and M8 got everyone going with their opening sets. DJ Crunch followed with an amazing set, and Steve Aoki had everyone going insane!! From the moment he touched the turntables the crowd roared! He melted faces, blew eardrums, and had everyone jumping/fist pumping all night!! If you missed it, then you MISSED IT ALL!!

The Traffic Jam 2

Another crazy installment of "The Traffic Jam" came and went on Saturday...I have had writers block for the past couple of days, and it's only because NO WORDS can describe how amazing the first month at The Wall has been. The Official NUSU/WALL Tailgate party!!

Laker Varsity Hockey has created a crazy buzz around campus, and now NUSU has decided to have a Pre-Party...TAILGATE STYLE!!This Friday will be the inaugural season opener against Queens University. From 3pm-6pm Friday, a LICENSED tailgate will be held outside, on lower residence behind Founders. Live music, food, and of course a beer zone will get everyone going, and free buses to and from the game will be provided. BUT GET THIS!! With the purchase of a hockey ticket, you will gain free entry to The Wall for ANYTHING GOES BUT CLOTHES!!

ALEXISONFIRE: A SPECTATORS POV

The only thing to say about Alexisonfire is WOW! Their energy was chaotic, their dancing was passionate and their music, MIND BLOWING. For a person who does not listen to them I wanted their shirts, buy their cd's, and rock-out to their talent. One of the best shows I have ever seen! What a powerful group. Wade with his kick jumps from the drum set to the stage. Dallas with his angel like, make you want to sing-a-long voice and George who entertained the crowd not only with his screams, but his interaction made the whole building roar. The bassist had devil like eyes which made the crowd become one with him as he commanded the stage. This band is DOPE! The mosh pit had multiple fans on the hands of other people swaying from one end of the bar to the next. The energy and vibe in The Wall was CRAZY! What a Sunday night!!

Fresh off a sick concert from 'The Dan Band', The Wall is hitting you up with another crazy band!! Alexisonfire will be showcasing their album 'Old Crows/Young Cardinals'. They have ripped The Wall stage before, and will do it again. Trust me, I have seen them here, and they are absolutely amazing, and have all ticket holders leaving the show wanting more! If you don't have a ticket get one of the few left ASAP!!

Another frosh week gone...

Thousands of party-goers flocked to The Wall, we set bar records, and we had the time of our lives. Someone jumped for joy as they won a thousand bucks, and some jumped for joy when they saw that glowing red sign leading them to the new, infamous rye bar. Silverstein, Metric, and Pauly Shore have all came and went, but the fun will not stop there!! The Dan Band, Alexisonfire, and DJ to the stars Steve Aoki, will continue to impress everyone. Parties like Alexander Keiths B-Day, Anything goes but clothes, the Traffic Jam II have all been sold out events and will be even crazier this time around. So finish your homework early, book some shifts off, and come out to The Wall. Let's thank staff, friends, and the people who have worked so hard at ensuring that we had a wicked-ass time!!

FIRST METRIC...NOW PAULY SHORE!!!!

Everyone who attended the Metric show was happier than ever. Some froshers explained that "Coming from a smaller town would make it so difficult for me to see the acts I love, but The Wall has made it happen"! I have heard AMAZING reviews about last nights performance by Metric! Everyone loved it, and I heard Emily and Co did a fantastic job. Next up: The Dan Band and Alexisonfire. NONE OF WHICH WILL DISAPPOINT!

THE WALL IS BACK AND BETTER THAN EVER!

The Wall has been open 4 nights now and it has been home to a full house for ALL OF THEM!! People love the new layout, and renovations. Emotions ran high for some as it was their first time in months seeing their roomates, and meeting with old friends. DJ KY, DJ D.A.F, both killed their sets and left people wanting more, and dancing all night! I don't have much more to say...Check out the videos below!!

RESIDENCE FROSH BEGINS!! GET READY FROSHERS!!

Frosh is one of the craziest, busiest times in North Bay. Both Canadore, and Nipissing have frosh week coming up, and its a great way to meet new people, and get comfortable with your new home. I attended some of the Residence Frosh Week activities, and I must say spirit was high and energy levels soared. On Monday a free bbq held on Lower Rez, with entertainment provided by Exodus, a Bob Marley cover band, helped students mingle, make new friends, and most importantly have a lot of fun!!

"The very first WTF Friday night at the brand new
remodelled walltook off with a huge BANG! Lining
up outside for the first time inmonths, wall regulars
and new wall patrons alike had no idea what they were
in for. Excitement mounted as IDs were checked and
taxis emptied.Once down those flights of stairs it
became evident that this was going to be one amazing
night to be remembered(or not remembered in most cases)
The very first thing seen as partiers entered through
those double doors was an incredibly massive screen
with the words "2.25 RYE BAR"blown up in a bold red
font staring them in the face and commanding them to drink
deep and drink cheap! Arriving at the rye bar was like
reaching the Promised Land. Extremely affordable drinks
and minimal line-ups at all three bars (including the
brand new shiny mega-bar) made for a lot more dancing
and socialising. And boy was there a lot of dancing.
The massive stage can be seen from any corner of the
room and on its own looks like it could very well be
the new favourite dancing spot. The music provided by
DJ KYwas perhaps the best mix in all of North Bay.
Ky played some old school hip hop, top 40, some TLC
No Scrubs(a huge favourite of mine),and Buddha provided
the hipster anthems a la Passion Pit and The Black Kids!
By the end of the night as we stumbled drunk out of the
wall all that kept running through my head was
“The Wall is back!!”"

THUNDERSTRUCK!!

Today was a good day!!

Today old faces, and some new faces reunited again. Staff training was today and "enthusiasm", and "willingness to go the extra mile" was definitely evident. The Wall staff were the first to occupy the newly renovated, kick-ass Wall, and heads did turn. Adjectives were flying out of everyones mouthes and everyone is definitely stoked to kick off the 09/10 year at The Wall. The Wall WILL be open on Monday, and Toonie Tuesday will relaunch on Tuesday. Toonie Tuesday prices will be low as usual, and now along with a Wall face lift, the theme is geared towards new music, and the oldies that we love.

Guest list will apply for Toonie Tuesday, and I will be accepting Guest list requests starting Monday. So make sure if you want to save some money(it is a recession) Contact me and let me know how many people you plan on coming with and you and your guests will be free before 11PM SHARP!!

The Wall Renos: Mike Holmes ain't got sh*t on this!!

During the past few months the Wall has underwent a SERIOUS makeover (And i'm not talking about a simple paint job). At one point this legendary bar and grill was completely gutted, and demo'd. The Wall has been home to a slew of kick-ass concerts, and events. Its also a place where students hook-up, dine, and have shared some crazy memories... None of this will be changed.The renos are going to make your experience an even crazier one! A big ass 10 foot by 6 foot seamless plasma TV will be inserted into the wall, and brand new 52" TV's will be placed around this larger than life big screen. The furniture has been replaced and new couches, tables and chairs will add to the new look of The Wall. The floors and walls are brand spanking new, and almost ready to get stomped on. The dance floor is going to be a lot larger and there will now be two areas for us to dance on. The Wall will also sport a brand new, extended bar, to better serve those $2 Rye's, Bud Light Lime, Dirty Larry's, and Jager bombs. Concerts are going to be bigger and better as the stage has been repositioned, and replaced with a stage double the size of the original one. New lighting, a fresh look, and colour will add to the greatness of the newly renovated facility. These renos mark a brand new year at The Wall. You'll all be stoked when you see the final product!!
